A new chapter in the history of Kawasaki Ninja ZX-6R, reborn with cutting-edge technology
After its discontinuation in 2021 due to emissions regulations, the legendary Kawasaki Ninja ZX-6R has made a strong comeback in the market. This new generation of the iconic supersport has received aesthetic, mechanical, and technological updates, complying with Euro 5 regulations
In terms of appearance, the ZX-6R features a cleaner and more aggressive design, following the style of its bigger sibling, the Ninja ZX-10R. The bike has adopted similar aerodynamic profiles and is equipped with Full LED headlights with projector/reflector, making it the first Kawasaki motorcycle to incorporate this technology.
The Euro 5 regulations have not significantly affected the power of the motorcycle. The Ninja ZX-6R retains its liquid-cooled inline four-cylinder engine with a displacement of 636 cc. Kawasaki has made modifications to the cam profiles, intake ducts, and exhaust headers to comply with the standards. It now delivers a power output of 124 hp at 13,000 rpm, which increases to 129 hp at 13,000 rpm with Ram-Air.
Regarding the chassis, the ZX-6R features an aluminum perimeter frame and a fuel tank with a capacity of 17 liters. The total weight of the motorcycle in running order is 198 kg. The front suspension is handled by a 41 mm inverted SFF-BP fork, designed by Showa, with adjustable rebound, compression, and spring preload. At the rear, there is a Uni-Trak linkage-equipped mono-shock. The braking system consists of dual 310 mm front discs with Nissin monobloc radial calipers.
The electronics of the ZX-6R have undergone a complete overhaul and now include a three-mode Kawasaki Traction Control (KTRC) system, Kawasaki Intelligent Anti-Lock Brake System (KIBS) for precise braking, and integrated power modes and riding modes (Sport, Road, Rain, Manual). Additionally, the motorcycle comes standard with a Kawasaki Quick Shifter (KQS), providing seamless and quick gear shifts.
In summary, the Kawasaki Ninja ZX-6R has made a comeback with a new version that combines its iconic style with technological and mechanical updates. Supersport enthusiasts can once again enjoy this legendary motorcycle, now complying with emissions standards and offering exceptional performance on the road.
