Peter Hickman emerges victorious in the Senior TT and successfully concludes the Isle of Man TT
The long-awaited conclusion of the Isle of Man TT arrived with the Senior TT race, one of the most iconic races reserved for the finale. On this occasion, it was Peter Hickman who emerged as the winner, adding his name to the list of great riders who have triumphed in the world's most dangerous motorcycle race. Although Michael Dunlop came close to catching him, he couldn't match the legend of his uncle Joey.
Hickman has been one of the standout performers of this edition of the TT. In fact, only one victory separated him from Dunlop in terms of achievements. The rider matched his results from last year, securing four wins in different categories.
The Senior TT started with Hickman riding a BMW M 1000 RR with Superbike specifications, instead of the Superstock bike with which he had set the fastest lap record on the Mountain Course (136.35 mph) during the week. It seems that the strategy worked well for him as he led the race from start to finish over the six laps.
No one was able to challenge him at any point. Hickman was unbeatable, reaching an average speed of 135.349 mph throughout the entire race. Dean Harrison finished in second place, demonstrating his consistent competitiveness in all races, although he couldn't surpass either of the two main contenders.
While victory over Hickman proved too difficult in the Senior TT, Dunlop settled for taking the runner-up position. By the fourth lap, Hickman had become unreachable, holding a lead of over 12 seconds over Dunlop. However, Hickman was still half a minute behind the first-place position, giving him a certain level of comfort.
Dunlop found himself relegated to an unavoidable third place, postponing his attempt to surpass Joey for the next edition. Meanwhile, Hickman was soaring through the Mountain Course with almost a 16-second lead on the final lap. He had the victory in his hands, he just needed to avoid making mistakes, and that's exactly what he did.
With this victory, Hickman adds four triumphs to his Isle of Man TT record, matching his result from the previous edition. Nineteen seconds later, Harrison secured the second place and stood on the podium with satisfaction. Dunlop finished in third place. The gaps with the fourth-place finisher, Conor Cummins, were insurmountable (+01:30.019). Another iconic name, John McGuinness, achieved a notable seventh place with the Honda CBR1000RR-R Fireblade SP SC82.
With the conclusion of the Senior TT, another edition of the Isle of Man TT comes to an end. The event was marked by sadness due to the loss of Raül Torras, whom we will never forget.
