A door opens for Bautista in MotoGP as he prepares for his test with Ducati
Álvaro Bautista fulfills his dream: Riding in MotoGP! After a long wait, Álvaro Bautista will finally have the opportunity to ride the Ducati Desmosedici GP in the MotoGP World Championship. As the World Superbike champion, the Spanish rider has been yearning for this moment, eager to once again enjoy a bike in the premier class of motorcycle racing, which also holds the title of world champion.
The test will take place over two consecutive days, on June 20th and 21st, at the Misano circuit. This track is very familiar to Bautista, as he recently achieved a triple victory there earlier this month. With two wins in 2022 and another two in 2019, it is a circuit that he knows perfectly and will serve as training during this three-week break in the WorldSBK calendar, just before traveling to the United Kingdom for the next round.
"After winning the championship in WorldSBK, I asked Ducati to try the MotoGP bike because, from the outside, it looks like a really fun bike," Bautista previously commented in an interview. His performance in the World Superbike Championship has been impressive, having won almost every race contested, with only one slipping away. Now, the only question remains as to how long it will be until he renews his champion's title.
And what about the possibility of a wildcard appearance in MotoGP? Although it's too early to tell, Bautista would love the idea. "I would like to try it and see what happens. I don't think we can repeat what Troy Bayliss did in 2006, as it was a very different era. My focus is solely on the WorldSBK. This test is a reward for me, I'm not thinking about Troy Bayliss," Bautista added, referring to the Australian rider who competed as a guest for Ducati and took victory in the Valencia Grand Prix that year.
The excitement is in the air as Álvaro Bautista prepares for his test in MotoGP. It will be an opportunity to experience the speed and adrenaline of the premier class and see what the future holds for this talented Spanish rider. Undoubtedly, it will be an unforgettable moment in his career and a milestone in his quest for new challenges and successes. We will be watching closely his feats on the track and hope that this is the beginning of an exciting chapter in his career in the world of two wheels.
